What We Believe
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” – A.W. Tozer
The foundation of our ministry at Covenant Hope Church is rooted in biblical doctrine and flows out of the beliefs below.
I. The Scriptures
Deuteronomy 29:29; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 19:7, 119:1-172; Proverbs 30:5-6; Matthew 4:4, 5:18; John 10:35b, 14:26, 15:26-27, 16:13-14, 17:17; Romans 3:1-2; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 2 Peter 1:21
II. God
Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 145:3; Matthew 28:19-20; John 1:3; Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6, 10:31; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Colossians 1:16-17, 2.9; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 1:1-3
III. God the Father

IV. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is the eternal Word made flesh. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. We believe in His sinless life, miracles, and teachings. He is fully God and fully man. He is the only Savior for the sins of the world, having shed His blood and suffered God’s wrath upon Calvary’s cross. By His death in our place, He revealed divine love and upheld divine justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. Having redeemed us from sin, on the third day He rose bodily from the grave, victorious over death. Forty days later, after appearing alive to more than 500 people, He ascended into heaven where, at God’s right hand, He intercedes for His people. He will visibly return to earth. He is the Head of the church.
Isaiah 53:10-12; Matthew 1:18-25, 20:28; Luke 1:26-38, 10.16; John 1:1,14, 3:18, 10:30, 14:6, 20:30-31; Acts 1:1-11, 4:12; Romans 5:6-8, 6:9-10, 8:34, 9:5; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:13; Ephesians 1:4; 1 Timothy 2:5, 3:16; Hebrews 1:1-3, 4:15, 7:25, 9:28; 1 Peter 2:21-23; 1 John 2:23, 5:12
V. The Holy Spirit

VI. Mankind
Christ having ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, all of whom will one day be gathered around His throne praising Him forever, we believe prejudice based on ethnicity or any other intrinsic human characteristic is opposed to the gospel. We believe in celebrating the diversity of the people of God.
God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, two distinct, complementary sexes, and has commanded that sexual intimacy shall occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. As revealed in Scripture, marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, uniquely reflecting Christ’s relationship with His church.
We believe the Bible reveals a high calling for those who are Christians and yet remain unmarried. Spiritual maturity, usefulness, and giftedness are in no way dependent upon marriage, and those who remain celibate, in wholehearted dependence on Him, are an invaluable resource for the advancement of God’s kingdom.

The Lord’s Supper is in no sense a sacrifice, but was instituted by Christ to commemorate His death, to confirm the faith and other graces of Christians, and to be a pledge and renewal of their communion with Him and with each other. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
